NORDAM signs exclusive repair-support agreement with Finnair for A320 and A330 thrust reversers

GWENT, South Wales (July 15, 2018) – NORDAM today announced expansion of its long-standing business relationship with Finland’s flag carrier and largest airline, Finnair, through a new four-year repair support agreement.

The exclusive contract comprises overhaul of CF6-80E1 and CFM56-5B thrust-reverser halves, which are engine components that play an important role in safe aircraft operation by diverting engine thrust forward, providing deceleration after touch-down. Under terms of the agreement, repair work already is underway at NORDAM Europe Limited, a repair station operating since 1997 as a joint venture of NORDAM and GE Aircraft Engine Services, Ltd.

“Our unique positon as the only authorized repair station for the CF6 platform through our established GE Middle River Aircraft Systems agreement is a great advantage for FINNAIR,” NEL Chief Operating Officer T. Hastings Siegfried said. “That, combined with NEL’s proximity, flexibility and inclusion of dedicated assets for these two engine programs made NORDAM the right choice for them. It’s a win-win continuation of our commitment to this tier-one customer for the long term.”

According to Siegfried, U.S.-based NORDAM has extensive experience supporting thrust reversers worldwide and has been a reliable component-repair partner on other Finnair components and programs for 17 years. He added that through NEL, the company offers Europe- and Middle East-based carriers the responsive, attentive customer service NORDAM is known for, in the context of a fast, nearby repair resource spanning all aspects of aircraft engine-component maintenance across a variety of aircraft and engine types.

Founded in 1969 on family values and now employing 2,500 people across multiple, strategically-located operations and customer support facilities around the world, Tulsa-based NORDAM is one of the largest independently owned aerospace companies. The firm designs, certifies and manufactures integrated propulsion systems, nacelles and thrust reversers for business jets; builds composite aircraft structures, interior shells, custom cabinetry and radomes; and manufactures aircraft transparencies, such as cabin windows, wing-tip lens assemblies and flight deck windows. NORDAM also is a major third-party provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the military, commercial airline and air freight markets. Learn more about NORDAM at
