NORDAM Honored By Leading Industry Publication

MIAMI, Fla. (April 14, 2015) – Tulsa, Okla.-based NORDAM received the 2015 MRO of the Year Award for Military Center of Excellence from Aviation Week, the largest information and services provider to the global commercial, defense, maintenance/repair/overhaul (MRO), space and business aviation communities.

Each year, the media outlet solicits nominations from readers to choose the best MRO and aftermarket entities around the world for value-adding achievements and innovations.

According to a letter to the aerospace firm from Aviation Week’s Chief Editor MRO Lee Ann Shay: “Our editors selected NORDAM for reducing AOG (aircraft on ground) time for the U.S. military’s F/A-18 A-D Hornet Fighters by providing interchangeable, remanufactured engine bay doors.”

Executive Vice President, Repair Divisions Basil Barimo accepted the award on behalf of NORDAM during a ceremony at MRO Americas 2015, held this year in the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“We’re very proud of our stakeholders’ focus on each customer’s unique needs and for translating that understanding into real-world solutions.” Barimo said.

“We’re thankful that this focus benefits our customer in ways that are readily recognized by the industry and that our team’s being honored for good work. We see great growth opportunities with our military customers and this award is indicative of that path.”

In addition to reducing AOG, the innovative engine-bay doors (EBDs) NORDAM provides to the Navy under the award-winning program include structural repairs essential to keep up with the extended service life of other overhauled fighter components, preventing the F/A-18 Legacy Hornet EBDs from limiting the life of the aircraft and ensuring their contribution to its safe operation until retirement.

Headquartered in Tulsa and employing 2,500 people across nine facilities on three continents, NORDAM is one of the world’s largest independently owned aerospace companies.

The firm designs, certifies and manufactures integrated propulsion systems, nacelles and thrust reversers for business jets;  builds composite aircraft structures, interior shells, custom cabinetry and radomes; and manufactures aircraft transparencies, such as cabin windows, wing-tip lens assemblies and flight deck windows.

NORDAM also is a major third-party provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the military, commercial airline and air freight markets.  Learn more about NORDAM at
